Continuing and future projects at The Geometry Forum.
Extending our community by developing
- a "Mathematics Forum" -- to give focused support for, e.g., calculus, algebra, educational reform on the Internet
- newsgroups/mailing lists for any math-directed group that wishes them
- interaction with community colleges
Expanded possibilities for communication:
- an online 'chat' venue
- special online discussion evenings
- an online course on new technology
- this quarterly newsletter
Teacher education:
- a place to go for follow-up and continuing Internet support
- Forum workshops and the potential for collegiality through interpersonal relations and group membership
- online discussions: structuring use of the Forum and the Internet into classes; research into student thinking
Software development -- Math tools for the Internet
- data management
- commenting/notation
- organizing net info
- news agents
- local archiving
- online help
And perhaps later on...
- electronic texts
- connections with libraries
- multimedia
The Geometry Forum is funded by the National Science Foundation. Forum Outposts is produced quarterly by The Geometry Forum in an effort to keep teachers, students, and others in touch with electronic happenings on the Forum and in the world of geometry.
