Lewis Latimer was a scientist. He invented lots of things. He was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts. He was born in 1848 and died in 1928. He was a very smart person. He had one brother and one sister. He invented the light bulb, air conditioner, and an elevator, and other things. He went to the navy before inventing these things and learned about mechanical drawings. He helped Thomas Edison on drawing things for him. He also invented the first electrical lamp. He wrote the first textbook on the lighting system at the Edison Company. Lewis Latimer was a very smart man. He did lots of things we use today, but we don't even know who invented these things.
