Rosalind Elsie Franklin was born in London on July 25, 1920. Her father, Ellis, was a banker. Her mother, Muriel, spent most of her time taking care of her husband's needs and five other children. Rosalind was the second of the five. She had known already since she was 15 years old that she wanted to be a scientist. She entered Newham College one of the women colleges in Cambridge University in 1938. She graduated in 1941. In 1942 the government assigned here to be assistant of research in Britain. By 1962 James Watson and many others received the Noble Prize in Physiology. Rosalind did not receive the Noble Prize because she was already dead. Her photographs of x-ray and on the D.N.A. molecule are the most beautiful photographs ever taken. That was what made her famous and a really good scientist. Rosalind died in April 16, 1958.
