In the new Principles and Standards the technology principle states "Teachers should use technology to enhance their students' learning opportunities by selecting or creating mathematical tasks that take advantage of what technology can do efficiently and well - graphing, visualizing, and computing. For example, teachers can use simulations to give students experience with problem situations that are difficult to create without technology, or they can use data and resources from the Internet and the World Wide Web to design student tasks. Spreadsheets, dynamic geometry software, and computer microworlds are also useful tools for posing worthwhile problems. " - Principals & Standards for School Mathematics (NCTM, 2000), p.26.

Software
In this first issue of CLIME Connections for 2000-2001 we thought we would bring you up to date on the some of the software environments that are in the spirit of the technology principle above. [in progress - links below not active]

Other Resources
With thousands of websites devoted to mathematics and technology, it's sometimes overwhelming to know exactly where to start. Rather than put together an exhaustive list of websites, we've decided to highlight just a small selection of sites and put them into some kind of context. [coming soon]

Editor's note:
We hope that you will share some of your favorites with us. Please post them to the discussion board or if you prefer just send them directly to me at ihor@clime.org

Preparing this for September, 2001. Stay tuned.
