Session 783 - CLIME session:
A Vision for the 21st century Mathematics Classroom: The Seamless Integration of Technology
Arranged by the Council for Technology in Mathematics Education
12:00 noon - 1:00 pm
Convention Center - 101J
In the early 80s, Seymour Papert wrote about how computers can help children discover that mathematics can be interesting, useful, and empowering. Unfortunately, in too many classrooms the computer experience was more about learning to press the right keys, than about illuminating mathematical mysteries. But after more than a decade of classroom experimentation with software, calculators and Internet access many teachers have found successful formulas that help their students achieve Papert's vision. This session will present strategies and resources that have contributed to effective classroom practice.
Susan Keeble, a mathematics educator from New Hampshire will be leading the session. Lew Romagnano, past president, will be the host.
