Flash Math Project
Create a Flash activity for middle school students to use in math class.
Assigned Groups
Group 1: Sam, Matt, Major, Ryan
Group 2: Alex, Jon, Aaron, Melissa
Group 3: Greg, Russell, AJ
Group 4: Josh, Jim, Gwen
Group 5: Bob, Iris, Stephen
Each group will create one Flash activity. The topic of the activity is proportional reasoning. For this group project these are the requirements:
  • October 17: a one-page PDF document submitted by one person per group to include: proposed name of game, group members, math topic, concept of game, target audience
  • October 17: group presentation of document in class
  • October 19, 5:00 pm: running beta version of Flash activity [WebCT submission]
  • October 24: half the class will visit classrooms [their revision is due October 31]
  • October 26: half the class will visit classrooms [their revision is due November 2]
  • October 31 or November 2: PDF document submitted by one person per group: consensus of how classroom visits informed revision of Flash activity
  • November 7: final presentation of Flash Math Project in class
20 percent of total grade
