Help the Newsletter Reach a New Milestone

As the Math Forum Internet News enters its fourteenth year of updating you about mathematics and key issues in math education, we stand on the verge of a milestone. Thanks to your recommendations, participation in our workshops, visits to our conference exhibit booths, and good ol' word of mouth, nearly 4,000 of you subscribe to our free weekly newsletter.

So to help us ring in the New Year, please give us a boost past that milestone: refer a friend or colleague to subscribe.

  1. Forward this issue, in its entirety, to your friend or colleague*
  2. Above your forward, jot a note explaining why you recommend the newsletter
  3. Invite them to subscribe by having them forward the issue -- again in its entirety -- to this address:

  4. Ask your friend or colleague to type -- above the newsletter, above your note -- only these two words, all by themselves, on the first line of the message body:

    subscribe newsletter

*Help the Forum stay in the good graces of your ISP's filters: forward this newsletter judiciously, to not more than a couple contacts in any one transmission. Consider, too, re-assuring your friend or colleague that we respect their privacy (

Math Tools, tPoWs, TI-Nspire and You!

Join Suzanne Alejandre and Heidi Rudolph in a hands-on session about problem-solving uses for the TI-Nspire technology. You will be introduced to the Math Forum's Math Tools, a community library of technology tools, lessons, activities, and support materials for teaching and learning mathematics, and Technology Problems of the Week (tPoWs), constructed-response problems enhanced by using technology as a tool.

The TI-Nspire tPoWs that are being developed and field-tested in Heidi's classroom will be introduced. There will be a discussion about how we can create more.
