Connected Mathematics Project Users' Conference
http://connectedmath.msu.edu/conferences/users/
The 12th Annual CMP Users' Conference will take place February
20-21, 2009, on the campus of Michigan State University. It is
intended for Connected Mathematics Project (CMP) teachers,
leaders, coaches and administrators to discuss more effective
ways to develop deeper mathematical understanding and
reasoning for all students.
Session topics will include: differentiated learning, special
needs students, effective planning, assessment and grading,
strategies for developing deeper mathematical understanding,
and skillful use of mathematics.
As an added incentive to register early, publishers Pearson will
sponsor a lottery drawing for $100 American Express gift
certificates to be given to two participants who register
before January 9, 2009.
2009 Mathematics Game
http://mathforum.org/yeargame/2009/
Write expressions for each of the counting numbers 1 through
100, using the digits in the year 2009, standard operations,
and grouping symbols. This puzzle is appropriate for students
in grades 3-12 with a general knowledge of mathematics.
Students may use the Web form to submit solutions starting
January 5, 2009; revisit the site after February 1, 2009, to
see the first solutions.
