Looking for ways to participate in the Math Forum research and development community?

Drexel University and the Math Forum @ Drexel are seeking resource packet reviewers to provide feedback on teacher- authored resource packets designed for use both in the classroom and as part of teacher professional development.

Reviewers will receive a $10 Amazon.com gift card for each resource packet they review.

Or contact Dr. Jason Silverman at silverman AT drexel.edu.

Applications received by November 12 will receive full consideration.

AP Calculus and Calculators Survey

Lynda Vincent announced in the discussion thread above a survey she is doing as part of her doctoral research. Her project investigates "the relationships among calculator choices in AP Calculus classes, as well as teacher beliefs that inform the decision about which calculator to use."

Service, Teaching, and Research (STaR)

The STaR workshop is a one-week summer session designed to provide opportunities for mathematics educators to focus on Service, Teaching, and Research (STaR). All those with a doctorate in mathematics education, in their first or second year as a higher education faculty member (mathematics department or college/school of education) are eligible to participate.

The workshop will be held July 17-22, 2011 in conjunction with the Park City Mathematics Institute (PCMI) in Park City, UT. Application information is available at the link above.

The application deadline is December 1, 2010. If you have questions, contact Robert Reys, University of Missouri, at reysr AT missouri.edu.

This workshop is part of a conference series funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF).
