                     PCMI OUTREACH PROGRAMS

The IAS/Park City Mathematics Institute (PCMI) has announced
two free professional development opportunities that kick off
 next month.

In "Scaling the Teaching Curve," middle school and high school
teachers do mathematics, think about teaching, and share in
professional development activities. Weekend workshops are
 coming to these cities:

    - Chicago, Illinois
    - Tampa, Florida
    - Washington, D.C.
    - Seattle/Tacoma, Washington
    - San Francisco, California
    - Denver, Colorado
    - Minneapolis, Minnesota

To deepen your understanding of rigid motions, dilations, and
other plane geometry transformations, participate in the
 online course "Geometry Transformed!"

                         DATA VIZ PROJECT

How many different ways can you represent a single
 fraction fact?

Where have architects brought waterfall plots to life?

 And what are Marimekko charts?

The Data Viz Project has the answers, searchable and sortable
by shape, input, function, and family, each with
 real-world examples.

Since launching this project a few weeks ago, Danish
infographic and data visualization agency ferdio has expanded
the collection to more than 150 types of charts, diagrams,
 plots, and tables.
