An interactive electronic mathematics course offered via the
Internet to students throughout the Hawaiian islands. Cathi
Sanders, a teacher at Punahou School in Honolulu, teaches
this course through ESchool, a pilot project of the Hawaii
Department of Education funded by a U.S. Challenge Grant.
The course uses computer technology and the Internet to
explore and discover real-life applications ranging from
art and astronomy to movie-making and seismology.
Chapters include
Lines: A study of lines and shapes formed from lines,
such as polygons, parallels, and angles.
Numbers: A study of numbers and other mathematical
symbols.
Curves: A study of curves, including circles, ellipses,
parabolas, and many other mathematical curves.
Solids: A study of solids, figures in three dimensions,
including cubes, pyramids, cones, cylinders, and spheres.
