  ESCOT (Educational Software Components of Tomorrow) was an 
  NSF-funded research project that developed interactive Java 
  applets to help middle school learners understand math 
  concepts they typically find difficult, for example, 
  fractions or probability.

  Although the problems are no longer mentored, the material 
  has been organized in a variety of ways to support the 
  classroom teacher, including:
