ESCOT Runner Installation Instructions and Hints

Installation Procedure
| 1. Click on Download the ESCOT Runner link below |
| 2. Fill out Information Form |
| 3. Read License Information, Click
Accept if you Agree to the Terms |
4. Choose Download Format (approx.
size)
- MAC, with MRJ (Macintosh Runtime for Java), size = 11MB (suggested format)
- MAC, no MRJ, size = 5 MB
If you have Macintosh Runtime for Java (MRJ) 2.1 or greater, installed,
you don't need to download with MRJ.

4. Choose Download Format (approx.
size)
- Windows, with Java Virtual Machine (VM), size = 7 MB (suggested format)
- Windows, no VM, size = 4.5 MB
You need to have JDK (Java Development Kit) 1.1.6, 1.1.7, or 1.1.8, or JRE (Java Runtime Environment)
1.1.6, 1.1.7, or 1.1.8 installed in order for the Runner to work properly. If you do not have one of these
versions, you need to download the VM (Java Virtual Machine) that comes with the Runner.
To find out what version of java you have installed, open a
DOS command prompt and type:
java -version
If it says 'unknown application' then you don't have Java installed.
Downloading the Java VM will not override your current version of Java.

| 5. If your browser does not automatically save the
file to a designated folder, save Install_ESCOT to Desktop or Download
Area |
| 6. Double-click Install_ESCOT icon |
| 7. Follow Install Anywhere Instructions |
| 8. Before starting ESCOTRunner,
it is a good idea to run ESCOTUpdater (on the desktop) to check
for any updates. If ESCOTRunner is already open, be sure to
close it before performing the update. |
| 8. After Installation, Double-click
on ESCOTRunner icon on Desktop |
8. After Installation, Goto Start Menu and
Select Escot Runner 1.0, ESCOTRunner to start Runner |

| ESCOTRunner make take up to a
couple minutes to start up, depending on machine configuration. |
If you are trying to run EscotRunner and you
are running out of memory...

Quit any other applications running

Try setting your monitor to 256 colors instead of thousands or millions.

Turn on Virtual Memory. Set to at least 64MB. If have 64MB
or more RAM, set Virtual memory to existing RAM +1MB (e.g., 64MB RAM =
65MB VM.

If you are trying to run EscotRunner
and you are running out of memory...

Close any other applications running

| If you are unable to start ESCOTRunner,
or experience difficulty running an activity in ESCOTRunner, close
the application and run the ESCOTUpdater. |

If you have a 640x480 screen, you may have to autohide
your taskbar in order to see all of the activity. |
