Setting Up Helper Applications in MacWeb

There are several steps to defining a helper application in MacWeb. We'll look at how to set up Sketchpad as a helper app.

Go to the Edit menu and select Helpers. Click on the New button and type in the MIME type (ex. application/x-gsp). Uncheck the "Don't Launch" box if you do want GSP launched when a sketch is retrieved. Click on the Select Application button and find your version of the application to be launched. Click on OK.

MacWeb will now ask you for the file type of the application. For Sketchpad, it is GSPk, and case is important. Click OK.

Go to the Edit menu and select Suffixes. Click on the New button and add a suffix (ex. gsp). Select the MIME type from the popup menu that will be used for files with that extension. Click on OK.
