One of the papers Gauss published as a high-school kid has a note by his
teacher at the end, saying that the young Herr Gauss has done some other
interesting things ... (I can't remember quite how it goes, but it would
be worthwhile to look it up so that you can tell it to your students.)

I'm not sure if it is the one about the constructibility of regular
polygons.
