Dear Julio, I've only recently joined the list, and I don't have much of a background in History of Maths (my degree is in Maths, and there were only 16 lectures on History of Maths in it). I've read a few books on it - but joining this list has really made a difference. I haven't contributed at all, but just reading the other mails really helps to bring the subject to life. A big thank you is in order! (I'm now considering a part time course in History of Maths - possibly the Open University course "Topics in the History of Maths. If anyone has any suggestions/recommendation, I'd be glad to hear them.)
