As an undergraduate I took a course from Mary Ellen Rudin
in topology. I was essentially Moore Method (University of Wisconsin)
But we also had as a reference Elements of the Topology of Plane Sets
of Points, by M.H.A. Newman. My copy says
First edition, 1939, Second edition 1951, and reprinted
1954, 1961, 1964.
