To me the question of correct placement in the 9th grade which means for
my schools district either one year or two year algebra is crucial.

Right now we are using a placement matrix which includes such factors as
grades in present course, grade is previous courses, TAAS, algebra
prognosis test and teacher recommendation. I think we are only doing a
semi-good job.

What are the rest of you doing? Does anyone have a method they are
satisfied really does the job?

Incidently, TAAS is a test of arithmetic skills where the problems are
all in context so some problem solving and reading is intermingled..
