They weren't mathematics majors. They were students interested in teaching
at the primary level, and were taking required "foundation" courses in
mathematics. And, honestly, many of the products that we think students
have learned early on have been forgotten.

Is this surprising? Memorization is one of the lowest forms of learning,
yet I think that's how most of us learn these products.

Perhaps *many* wasn't the best phrase. *Many more than I would expect*
might be more accurate.
