In reference to your posting: Have you read
Perry, Michelle, VanderStoep, Scott W., & Yu, Shirley L. (1993)
Asking questions in first-grade mathematics classes: Potential Influences
on Mathematical Thought, Journal of Educational Psychology, 85 (1) 31-40?
It's an interesting article and, taken in the context of your
anecdote, raises the question as to how general the findings are.
Any comments?
