As I read your question, I tried to think of all the ways I have heard this
word used. So I got out my trusty dictionary and was a little disappointed
when it didn't have half of the definitions I expected. However, if you are
talking in a mathematical sense, the question is a little ambigious. It might
be a range or a means of specifying a co-ordinate point. So I suspect the
meaning depends on context. For a variety of reasons I would think that the
question, "What is red?" is of the same family of questions.

In any case, perhaps it would be worthwhile to give the context and 'how' you
would like to answer the question (e.g. precise definition, analogy, etc. )
