Regarding the discussion of math and music:

I know one interesting report, by Zoltan Dienes, that appeared in the
Journal of Mathematical Behavior, a professional math ed journal that
your library should be able to get for you, if they don't already have
it:

Dienes, Zoltan P., (1987). Lessons Involving Music, Language, and
Mathematics. Journal of Mathematical Behavior, vol. 6, number 2
