Guy,
Do textbooks "teach" or do teachers "teach"? I have experienced,
through my son, a very good teacher teach from Saxon with good results
and I have seen a very good teacher teacher from TERC with lesser but
somewhat good results. Both were the result of a good committed teacher
using the textbook as a tool. Your above comment leads me to believe you
missed Kirby's point, academic freedom and teaching skill transcends a
particular text.
