Well, as a staunch user of Macs, I'd point out that in education, at
least, there are still a ton of Macs out there. But as to using any
but a TI calculator as the standard, it seems indeed ludicrous. On
the other hand, why have a specific BRAND of calculator designated as
official? That seems really illegal. How can the GED folks ban
various brands, as opposed to types (e.g., I can see restricting
things to scientific, or graphing, or banning non-pocket calculators
(though the HP 48s and TI-89s are enormously powerful and there will
be more and better where they came from. Casio? Sharp? Gee, why not
Tandy?

Say, isn't John McCain chair of the Commerce Committee?
