How do you get children to listen when they also have manipulatives in front of them?
It seems when we need to stop and discuss our findings there are also students who cannot help but continue to use the manimpulatives. Sometimes, I might add, in a playing fashion as in builiding forts, making a design etc. It also seems that when they continue to play their ears and eyes do not focus on the discussion. So this is like teaching "Helen Keller" during the discussions. The presentations of findings is one of the most important aspects of the program, but children of this age love to play. Any suggestions?
