I just wanted to share the power of the daily number work. I
incorporate daily equation work with the weekly log. We use the
number of days of school in second grade, while my collegue in first
grade uses her number of the week. We have both seen such gains in
number sense and patterning of numbers. I have one student who
"needs" to do 10 equations everyday. Another does whatever kind of
equation I ask for, then finishes his time making muliplication facts
for our daily number! My collegue and I are constantly sharing
stories of the wonderful number work that is happening around this 10
minute routine!
