daily checklist

Hi, has anyone been using a daily teacher checklist to help monitor
students' skills. It seems to me that a checklist of skills would be
nice to have as you observe students as to grouping, counting, trying
to problem solve. Before I try to be creative are there any ideas that
might be better?
