Here in Oregon, we have used a checklist but used the grade level
benchmarks as priority items. An example for this fall for incoming
2nd graders: counts to 100 by 1's, counts to 20 by 2's, counts by 5's
to 100, and counts by 10's to 100 for counting skills. Reads and
writes numerals and number at the concept level (or hiding assessment)
were also included. These are also on our report card.
