I see, and advocate, the value of the Investigations explorations in better understanding what they are doing; however, for a bright student, once they have developed other methods or are able to demonstrate that they understand why the algorithm works, is there anything wrong with them being allowed to then use the algorithm if it is quicker for them? My daughter has been getting the message that yes, it is wrong to use the algorithm.
