I am currently helping some 5th grade teachers new to Investigations implement this unit. We tried starting with Math. Thinking at Gr. 5 but found it too difficult for these inner city students that have no experience with Investigations. The teachers are finding it hard to get used to the format, the unit guide, and find the sequence confusing. I am somewhatfamilar with the program at all grade levels but not an expert in this particular unit. Can anyone give me some hints that may make this journey easier? How do you implement and manage Choice time? Are there any tricks for making the Related problem sets make sense? Communicating strategies is also an issue for the students and the teachers. How does one convince others that this program is worth the trmendous amount of work it takes to use it?
