You are not alone. Most state standards have been usurped by NCTM's vagueness. Rhode Island is one of them. I'm thankful that some schools and school districts in RI have REAL standards for what should be taught in what grade. You should go to the school and check. If they exist in your child's school, insist that the teacher supplements TERC.
