Get GhostScript free online and install it on your machine. I prefer Adobe
Acrobat (Professional) myself but you have to pay for it -- a good
investemnt I think. However, the Acrobat Reader is free from Adobe.

If the author of the pdf file did not set protection against copying the
text, the text can be copied via the clipboard.
