Writing simple mathematical expressions is fine. Something like integral from x=0 to x=1 of e^(-x^2) is okay ... but now try to write a matrix, let's say a 50-by-50 ... try to write _that_ in plain text without getting some confusion.

You can search in a ps file with GSview.
