This is the first year that I have used the problems in class. I've concentrated on just making sure that my students can log on and submit solutions either here at school or at home during this first marking period, for extra credit. Next quarter, I plan to hold them accountable for between two and four problems per marking period (I teach 3 levels of math), but they will have to submit a write up to me that is based on our school's problem solving rubric. I'm still working out the details, because I would like to use these problems as part of a portfolio assessment of students' work. One component that I am thinking about adding is a reflection of student work, based on a review of solutions that are shared on line, discussing other stragies that are used by other students. It is helpful to hear what others are doing.
