Greetings from DC. I have been working at the National Science Foundation (NSF) since last Aug and finish here Aug 1. I can only participate in spurts this week since NSF (the TPC section in ESIE) loaded me up with 15 prelims to review this week. Gene, I had 16 proposals but had to recuse myself on the one one submitted from the Mathforum w/ your name attached. Last week I was in Colorado grading AP Calc exams. I have had a terrific year at NSF doing all sorts of interesting things including rewriting the application and nomination forms for the Presidential Awards program (www.paemst.org). I spend much of my time dealing with the awards program and selection process. July 19-22 is the selection process for the 2005 secondary level awardees. Lots of planning and coordinationg for that. I apologize for not being more involved this week/year w/ the Mathforum. I have spread the word across the USA however, having attended every NCTM regional and national and national T-cubed conferences. It pays to work for the gov't and have a travel budget! I also resigned from my classroom job in Michigan this past April. Early retirement incentive was too good to pass up. I'll let you all know where I land come September. I downloaded the Fathom problem and may take a crack at it, but time is short........
