Here's another one the gnu math teachers are still wrapping their heads around: Dieter Kotschick's 'The Topology and Combinatorics of Soccer Balls' (American Scientist, Volume 94, pg. 350 -- July-August of this year).

I got my copy from Glenn Stockton a couple Wanderers' meetings ago. He's pretty up on the hexapent literature, plus a contributor, coming from his 'global matrix' angle (I've filed more over at geometry.pre-college).
