Broome-Tioga BOCES TI Users Support Group Meeting

Tuesday, April 1, 2008
4:00 - 6:00
Instructional Support Center Room A
435 Glenwood Road
Binghamton, NY 13902

The April 1, Broome-Tioga BOCES TI Users Support Group will feature T^3
instructor, Gene Olmstead demonstrating how to use the Cabri Jr Geometry
Apps on the TI 83/84 Graphing Calculators in the Algebra Classroom.

Come see some examples of how to make connections between Algebra and
Geometry. We really can integrate the curriculum, not only with new
problems, but also enhancing old problems in new ways. Plane and
Coordinate Geometry examples will be explored. Participants need no
experience, only a desire to learn new ways to use a calculator to show
students Algebra and Geometry are not always two separate courses. Bring
your TI-83/84 to receive the Cabri Jr. Apps and files as well as
handouts.

Gene Olmstead has been using a graphing calculator in the teaching of
mathematics to enhance the student*s learning for 20 years. He has given
many conference sessions/workshops and summer institutes regionally and
nationally on the use of technology in the mathematics classroom. Gene
is a National T^3 Instructor and has been involved with the writing of
T^3 professional development materials, including the co-authorship of
the Cabri Jr. Explorations book, as well as many articles/materials on
the use of technology in the classroom. He is currently retired from
Elmira Free Academy in Elmira after 33 years where he taught all levels
of mathematics from Algebra to Calculus.

Broome Tioga BOCES district teachers should register following their
district registration policies with Connie Goodspeed. Other people
interested in attending should contact me.

Pizza will be served!
Door prizes will be given!
