As a Associate for the Teacher to Teacher program at the math forum, I came across a question asking about a teaching machine that was found in the New Paltz, NY high school after it closed in about 1940 (working from memory here)...

See pictures at http://pballew.net/machine1.jpg and http://pballew.net/machine2.jpg

The machine has rows of numbers that can be moved left and right by sliders on the right hand side of each row, and little screens that come down from the top can cover any column.
If anyone has an idea of what this machine did, how it was used, who manufactured it.... etc.. please let me know.

Thank you for any ideas or information
