I do not think it is fair at all to target specific individuals. If I was to be moderator of a new sci.math newsgroup, I would target specific behaviors rather than specific people. By discouraging undesirable activities in a more restrictive manner (i.e. temporary suspensions of posting, banning of certain threads or other moderator related privileges) most of the undesirables will be ruled out in consequence. Repeat offenders can then be targeted because of their offenses, not their ideas. What I would like to see in a new group is constructive criticism and decent language.
