For sure, MATHEMATICS learning distress (MLD) is unique to mathematics. Although learning distress occurs with other areas of learning (auto mechanics, electronics, Russian, sociology, history, etc.) ... the escalation results partly from (1) the pressures for continual learning and (2) the degree to which the subject matter is hierarchally structured.
