This is very much like being worried about what the Student Goverment might do. In the end, it doesn't matter because it has no real power. At most, they decide how some of the student fees are allotted, and even that can be overridden by a flick of the dean's wrist.
Likewise, the group of moderators have only one tiny bit of say so. If the moderators turn into a group of pigs, then everyone will go to sci.math. The moderators become dictators over an empty city. Whoopee.
