Elementary my dear Watson:
Both reminded me, each in his own way, that everything is at the intersection of many sets.
Just like "an old male", "is a Frenchman", "is a mathematician", "has lived in the US for near a half century", "has taught in a CC for near a half century" still does not identify me. I am all of these and some more.
In the same manner, "multiplication" is a multi-faceted concept which needs to be seen and understood in its many avatars.
