Technically speaking, on a TI-83+, you have the ability to change the style of line, but there the inequality symbols are not shown nor is there a dashed line for strictly greater than or less than.

A TI-83+ model can only be reset. There is no Press-to-Test.

The TI-84+ has both Press-to-Test and Test Guard 2.0.

TI-Nspire and TI-Nspire CX have Press-to-Test.

Seriously?? We have to disable the inequalities for graphing? Is that even possible on a TI83+?

Subject: What is Allowed for Regents Exams?

I have had some educators contacting me inquiring about what features the graphing calculators can or can not have for the Regents exams.

The following features are not accepted by the content and assessment teams for New York State Ed.

· CAS Functionality- Computer Algebra System

o Includes symbolic manipulation: includes but not limited to simplifying radicals, factoring polynomials, Indefinite integrals, Derivatives, Simplifying Algebraic Expressions.

· Graphing Inequalities- during the exam the <, < , >, > must be turned off when graphing

· Solving System of Linear Equations

· Polynomial Root Finders

· Extra Trigonometric Functions Sec, Csc, Cot and their inverses.

I have attached the Press-to-Test Guide for the TI-84+ and TI-Nspire (pg 18 addresses the TI-84+). It covers how to get different models into and out of testing mode and goes in depth on the features of Press-to-Test.

Note: TI-Nspire handhelds must be updated to either 2.1.1.38 or 3.0 Operating System for this June?s State Exams.

If you are ever curious about a specific model being compliant with NY State Education Department or have any questions about testing procedures for graphing calculators, feel free to contact me.
