Calculator Requirements for the Regents Exams
I hope everyone's last month of school is off to a great start. As the Regents approach, I know how stressful things can get, and how important it is to get answers to all your questions.
At CASIO, it is our belief that this listserv is for educators only and those who post are following best practices with no financial interest tied to their post; however, we realize there has been some confusion here regarding accepted calculators on the Regents exams. As part of our ongoing support of teachers and schools utilizing CASIO technology as well as others, we want to make sure that all educators have the best and most updated information possible so that they can make informed judgments about what is best for their students.
A few weeks ago, the Office of Assessment Policy, and Development for the New York State Education Department sent a letter to principals stating the following regarding calculator usage:
[Calculators] must include at least these functions: trigonometric and logarithmic functions. They may NOT be capable of symbol manipulation or communication with other calculators through infrared sensors. NO instruction or formula cards, or other information regarding the operation of calculators such as operating manuals are permitted. The memory of any calculator with programming capability must be cleared, reset, or disabled when students enter the testing room. If the memory of any calculator is password protected, and cannot be cleared or reset, the calculator may NOT be used.
In other words, the requirements for the Regents exams have not changed. For more information on calculator usage on the Regents exams, please see:
http://www.p12.nysed.gov/ciai/mst/math/documents/guide_calculator_use.html
http://www.p12.nysed.gov/ciai/mst/graphing.pdf
Under these guidelines, the following CASIO calculators are allowed for use on the Regents exams:
* 9750G series * 9860G series * PRIZM series
We are also attaching a file on how to make Casio calculators "exam ready." As mentioned earlier, we believe that this listserv is for educators, and therefore we will not be posting again or responding to this post. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact:

We wish everyone the best of luck and a great end of school year!
