Re: What is Allowed for Regents Exams?

You still have you matrices and can use reduced row echelon form to solve a system. NYSED doesn't want the integrity of the exam to be compromised with a model that does everything for the student on an exam.
Please just check with NYSED if you have concerns on a specific model or functionalty.

Better check I guess...then on that note...Should I go back to the Ti-84 because those options are available?? I know I could always do matrices for systems, but what about poly roots or solver?? is this option on the 84 still and now not on the Nspire....I might have to switch to Casio here Dana! > > > Daniel Knaisch > Math Teacher > Elmira Free Academy > 933 Hoffman St. > Elmira, NY 14905 > (607)735-3100 ext 4233 > ________________________________________ > From: owner-nyshsmath@mathforum.org [owner-nyshsmath@mathforum.org] On Behalf Of Morse, Dana [dmorse@ti.com] > Sent: Friday, June 10, 2011 1:50 PM > To: nyshsmath@mathforum.org > Cc: nyshsmath@mathforum.org > Subject: Re: What is Allowed for Regents Exams? > > To be compliant with NY DOE, the OS on the TI-Nspire must be either 2.1.1 or greater. > > Those features that you refer to Daniel, solving systems and polytools are disabled when you enter testing mode. > > Mr. Dana F. Solving systems/polyroots/Nsolve (aka menu 3) on the Nspire is not disarmed, however all those options were availbale on the Ti-84 as well. they were just harder to find/use (same with summations). Whether I agree with these options or not is a different story, but the 84 is capable. >> >> NOTE: I am not a TI salesperson, just stating the obvious >> >> >> Daniel Knaisch >> Math Teacher >> Elmira Free Academy >> 933 Hoffman St. >> Elmira, NY 14905 >> (607)735-3100 ext 4233 >> ________________________________________ >> From: owner-nyshsmath@mathforum.org [owner-nyshsmath@mathforum.org] On Behalf Of acucci@frankfort-schuyler.org [acucci@frankfort-schuyler.org] >> Sent: Friday, June 10, 2011 12:45 PM >> To: nyshsmath@mathforum.org >> Subject: Re: What is Allowed for Regents Exams? >> >> Isn't simplifying radicals a symbolic manipulation? >> >> Also sin 60 degrees = rad 3 over 2 is also symbolic manipulation. >> >> Why would TI create Press-to-Test if all of the functionality like inequality graphing and systems of linear equations solver is allowed? >> >> ******************************************************************* >> * To unsubscribe from this mailing list, email the message >> * "unsubscribe nyshsmath" to majordomo@mathforum.org >> * >> * Read prior posts and download attachments from the web archives at >> * http://mathforum.org/kb/forum.jspa?forumID=671 >> ******************************************************************* >> ******************************************************************* >> * To unsubscribe from this mailing list, email the message >> * "unsubscribe nyshsmath" to majordomo@mathforum.org >> * >> * Read prior posts and download attachments from the web archives at >> * http://mathforum.org/kb/forum.jspa?forumID=671 >> ******************************************************************* > ******************************************************************* > * To unsubscribe from this mailing list, email the message > * "unsubscribe nyshsmath" to majordomo@mathforum.org > * > * Read prior posts and download attachments from the web archives at > * http://mathforum.org/kb/forum.jspa?forumID=671 > ******************************************************************* > ******************************************************************* > * To unsubscribe from this mailing list, email the message > * "unsubscribe nyshsmath" to majordomo@mathforum.org > * > * Read prior posts and download attachments from the web archives at > * http://mathforum.org/kb/forum.jspa?forumID=671 > ******************************************************************* ******************************************************************* * To unsubscribe from this mailing list, email the message * "unsubscribe nyshsmath" to majordomo@mathforum.org * * Read prior posts and download attachments from the web archives at * http://mathforum.org/kb/forum.jspa?forumID=671 *******************************************************************
