How about the wording for question number 36??? Once you make the initial substitutions into the formula that is on the formula sheet the answer IS A TRINOMIAL in terms of x. By definition of trinomial (three terms separated by + or - signs) this is done and should be given full credit! If the state wanted the solution they gave then they should have stipulated "simplest form" or some other way so the students would know that they need to work further.
I had a student miss his only two points and because of the negative scaling received a grade of 97 (!!!!) because of this.
What do you think?!?
