I agree with most posts, but the formula sheet was used - finding the exact value of sin75 is exactly what I teach as an application of sine of a sum; and I doubt that many of my students used it, but I believe the intention of #3 was to use the formula for the sum of a finite arithmetic series. Along with a law of cosines and a normal curve question, I would say it was used at least as much as in the past - if you were looking for places to use it.
