Disagreement with Geissinger's type of response

As a new member of the listserv, my assumption is that it is supposed
to funtion in the spirit of an academic community of inquiry.
Regardless of one's views on the merits of collaborative learing, just
looking at the style of the two communications (Panitz and
Geissinger), it would certainly appear that Geissinger comes off
looking like the narrow minded one. Or perhaps I am missing the
'spirit of debate' of the group? Somehow questioning an idea that one
disagrees with by attacking its proposer as a spell-binding evangelist
doesn't seem to make it.
