Thank you for sharing. Years ago I spent some time in gifted education forums, and I know that yours is one of the rare stories with a happy ending. Your daughter is very lucky to have a mother who realized that if she was going to have an appropriate education, her mother was going to have to take matters into her own hands. Too many other stories of talented, deserving children do not end so well.
One consistent note I strike in this forum is that the more a child has to depend upon the schools for his education, the worse for that child. While I usually assert this opinion in the context of struggling students, and I think this theory applies with special force to them, I first developed the theory in the TAG forums.
