He signed his post with Michael where Ejercito was omitted. Why use a double identity?
Anyways. I suppose digit interleaving is his invention. But, I agree with you that bijecting (0, 1] in R to the entire R is more difficult because the simple digit interleaving trick won't work.
Does Peter or Michael know why? ;-)
Again, what do they need the explicit bijection for? You cannot assume an element exists, but you can prove that it exists. However, constructing the element explicitly is one extra mile ahead. Any justification? Do they prefer doing work for nothing?
